Mama has freshly pedicured feet, and by the end of the day should also have her Namenda prescription doubled, a prescription for a foot cream that is applied after bathing, and something prescribed daily for constipation.
Sister1 visited yesterday afternoon. Mama thinks she's in Oklahoma. (She's not.) But she does have an outstanding collection of Mardi Gras beads!

Do you have a mother?
Mama has been living at "The Manor" for about 4 months now. When she got there she was overdue for a pedicure and she still needs one now. Lynn, the nurse practitioner, just doesn't seem to have time to work it in, no matter how many times she is scheduled to do it. We'd do it ourselves, but Mama is on coumadin, and needs hers done professionally. That's beside the point though, because I know what my younger sister is going to do. In a way that only she can pull off, she's going to get this taken care of. The conversation will start something like this...
"Lynn, do you have a mother?..."

Mom mom, the movie star!
Before my mom came to live at "The Manor," before she was a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, or even before she met my dad, she had beautiful "movie star" portraits taken. They hang in her room now, along with several generations of family photos posted on colorful mat board. These bursts of color frame the faces she loves and help her remember this is her space. They also give her bragging rights with her visitors and the wonderful folks who help her every day.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go...
My mom told me she'd gotten off from work and was cleaning her room. I asked what she did at work. "I'll have to explain it to you later." She says she helps people, they come to her and ask her things, and she goes to them and asks them things.
She doesn't want to work there anymore but they want her to stay so she has agreed to, for now.
My mom is 80, as cute as they come, and is proof that if you are determined enough, you can do damn near anything.
Except remember.
